Barack Obama Deserves to Lose in Kentucky

I'm really unhappy to have to write this post. And I'm very upset. But if the news report written by Ryan Alessi, reporting for the Lexington Herald-Leader is true, I'm losing significant respect for Barack Obama. The remarks made by Obama to the Lexington newspaper are just plain stupid.

The headline? Obama blames Fox News, e-mail for likely loss in Kentucky

What we have here is a rerun of his
San Francisco speech that labeled him as an elitist before the Pennsylvania election. Not in exact words, but in tone and tenor, we have the same message he gave to his latte sipping supporters. He loses only when the voters are just too damned ignorant to understand the real Obama. Anytime Obama loses..... well, it's just not his fault. And it's not because of Hillary Clinton's hard work, either.

Obama is going to lose Kentucky, so he blames the rural voters, who somehow are simultaneously factually stupid while being Internet and email savvy. Oh, and he blames Fox News, too.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, facing a likely defeat in next Tuesday's primary election, won't travel to Kentucky before the voting, but said he hopes to have much more time to win over Kentucky voters before the November general election.

He also blamed Fox News for disseminating "rumors" about him and said that that and e-mails filled with misinformation that have been "systematically" dispersed have hurt him in Kentucky.

“Part of it is because there have been these e-mails that have been sent out very systematically, presumably by various political opponents, although I don’t know who,” he said. “And there are a lot of voters who get their news from Fox News. Fox has been pumping up rumors about my religious beliefs or my patriotism or what have you since the beginning of the campaign.”
To say Obama just doesn't get it is a tragic understatement. Worse, his cry baby attitude is simply not befitting any Presidential candidate.

The nearly mythical email campaign has been thoroughly refuted months ago, including many times over on FOX News and in all media. Kentucky has lots of major media, big newspapers, and excellent news coverage. And FOX News has a very tiny viewership in the grand scheme of things, in Kentucky and all across America. Yes, more people watch FOX than MSNBC or CNN, but a lot more people watch Jay Leno, David Letterman and Comedy Central than watch FOX News.

By the way, FOX News is also has the most viewers in Oregon, where Obama is likely to win.

Dammit Barack. Why not accept the blame for your defeat. Stop blaming and insulting the voters. They are certainly smart enough to know when they're being insulted.

POSTSCRIPT: I read a great quote on another blogsite this evening that seems to sum up this story best. The comment was written by a person using the name "Buy Danish"

"One thing for sure, if Obama wins the White House there will be no “The buck stops here” sign on the Oval Office desk."

I think you have a point here, Wizard. Without looking into the quote further, let me say that much. I don't much like some of the plaintive tones struck by Obama on the campaign trail occasionally. I much prefer the down-to-earth tones he strikes in his "Lay off my wife" riff, as in:

The GOP, should I be the nominee, can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record. If they think that they're going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful because that I find unacceptable, the notion that you start attacking my wife or my family.

He said that in Tennessee.

On related issue, I applaud all dissing of Faux News. It is a retrogressive force in American politics and needs to be marginalized as much as possible until it changes its editorial content.

vigilante, I was in total agreement with you concerning Barack's "lay off my wife" riff.... until Rachel Lucas hit me upside my head with a two by four and knocked some sense into me. See her blog entry from this morning Two Minutes Hate.

Lucas said, quite correctly, "He can’t possibly believe that things his wife says at political campaign rallies are immune from criticism. As Hot Air pointed out, Barack himself has criticized Bill Clinton in the exact same way. And I will give each of you five trillion dollars if Cindy McCain ever says anything massively stupid and inflammatory on stage at a public McCain campaign event, and the Obama campaign ignores it because she’s the wife, not the candidate. No shit, five trillion dollars. See, I can promise that because I know it’s not physically possible for that scenario to ever occur."

You cannot send your wife into the arena and then instruct the lions that she is exempt from attack.

It's one thing to keep your kids off limits when they are young and not directly involved in your campaign, as the Clinton's did with Chelsea Clinton or the Bush's did with the twins.

But, give me a break, did anyone ever lay off Hillary Clinton when Bill was President?

Having said all that, the Tennesee Republican Party is so blazingly stupid, they need to be institutionalized.

That ad will backfire and bring Obama more votes than he can possibly imagine.

When the Republicans are wiped out this fall, they will deserve it.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Stupidity will have its fit reward.

These are good points, Wizard. Michelle is fair game because she's a player. Just as Chelsea was that time around, because she is a player. And, I think Cindy's airplane and networks are just as in play as are Bill Clinton's connections. All I'm sayin' is I like Barack steppin' up and shakin' his fists at those who attack his wife. Very Chivalric. I just wish he would raise both fists and more often. But he's coming. He's coming. The American people want to see a fighter up in front, leading them. An Elite fighter. Obama is the one to put America Barack on track.
